Description
The Riess Iron chestnut pan 32cm is a timeless kitchen utensil that is perfect for roasting chestnuts and much more. Made from cold-forged iron, the pan with its perforated base offers direct contact with the heat and thus ensures beautifully crispy and evenly roasted chestnuts. The long iron handle and the counter handle make it easy to handle, whether you use it on gas, electric, glass ceramic or induction stoves or even roast over an open fire. The pan is also oven-safe, which underlines its versatility.
Since 1550, Riess has been making iron pans that get better over time. The porous structure of this sustainable pan develops a natural patina that improves its non-stick properties and acts as corrosion protection. The pan is easy to clean, recyclable and CO2-neutral, sustainably produced in Austria. Whether you are an amateur cook or a professional, the Riess chestnut pan offers you long-lasting and high-quality performance for all your kitchen adventures.

- This is how to roast chestnuts in the RIESS chestnut pan: Make a cross-shaped cut in the bellied side of the chestnuts using a sharp knife or chestnut cutter. Roast with the cut side facing upwards in the chestnut pan on the stove or on an open fire for around 15-20 minutes at high heat. Shake occasionally.
- Only use fresh chestnuts. You can identify them with a simple test: fresh chestnuts are heavier than old chestnuts. This can be easily checked by placing the chestnuts in a bowl of water: the fresh chestnuts sink to the bottom, the other, old or worm-eaten fruits rise to the surface of the water.

This product scores highly in at least 25% of our sustainable packaging features and therefore meets our requirements for sustainable packaging. The packaging of a product has a major impact on the environment. If the product has packaging, we therefore carefully check whether it is made from recycled materials and/or is itself recyclable. Plastic-free packaging and packaging that can be returned to a reusable system or that stands out due to its particularly intelligent and sustainable packaging design perform better with us.
This product scores highly in at least 50% of our features for environmentally friendly use and is therefore particularly sustainable. A product also has an impact on the environment during use. That's why we look at whether you can save resources such as energy, water or materials with the product. It is also important to us whether a product is repairable, durable and/or refillable.
This product scores highly in at least 25% of our sustainable materials criteria and therefore meets our requirements for sustainable materials. Sustainability starts with the materials. That's why, when evaluating this criterion, we look closely at whether the product is made of natural or recycled or recyclable materials and whether it is petroleum- or plastic-free. We also pay attention to whether the materials are grown locally and organically.
This product scores highly in at least 50% of our sustainable manufacturing criteria, making it particularly sustainable. Manufacturing is an essential step in the life cycle of a product. This includes whether a product is manufactured without animal testing or the use of critical substances such as genetically modified plants or palm oil. We also examine whether it is produced locally and in a CO2-neutral manner. We also check whether social sustainability, such as fair pay, is taken into account during production.
This product scores highly in at least 25% of our features for comprehensive recyclability and therefore meets our requirements for sustainable recyclability. A major challenge for sustainability is the integration of products into the biological and technical cycle. It is important here whether a product is recyclable, biodegradable or compostable industrially or at home. We also view it positively if the manufacturer offers a return system for the product and returns it back into the cycle themselves.
