Description

The Master Aid Bio Strip plaster is the most environmentally friendly wound plaster and represents an alternative to conventional plasters. Sustainability is taken into account both in production and disposal: The carrier material consists of a bio-resin film obtained from potato starch. The plaster strips are 100% compostable. The potato starch comes from agricultural crops with low water absorption. The packaging of the Bio Strip plasters is made entirely from recycled cardboard.

The Bio Strips wound dressing is soft and absorbent. In addition, the transparent plaster strips are water-repellent and adhere perfectly to the wound. The strong adhesive is based on acrylic and is activated by light pressure and body heat.

Bio Strip is available in sizes S, M, L and a mixed pack consisting of 2 formats:

  • Size S: 78 mm x 20 mm – 20 pieces
  • Size M: 78 mm x 26 mm – 10 pieces

Sustainable packaging
Sustainable packaging

This product scores highly in at least 25% of our sustainable packaging features and therefore meets our requirements for sustainable packaging. The packaging of a product has a major impact on the environment. If the product has packaging, we therefore carefully check whether it is made from recycled materials and/or is itself recyclable. Plastic-free packaging and packaging that can be returned to a reusable system or that stands out due to its particularly intelligent and sustainable packaging design perform better with us.

Sustainable packaging
Non-environmentally friendly use

Unfortunately, this product does not score highly in any of our features for environmentally friendly use. That does not mean that the product is not sustainable in general, but we believe there is potential for greater sustainability in the area of use. A product also has an impact on the environment during use. That is why we look at whether you can save resources such as energy, water or materials with the product. It is also important to us whether a product is repairable, durable and/or refillable.

Sustainable packaging
Non-sustainable materials

Unfortunately, this product does not score highly in any of our criteria for sustainable materials. That does not mean that the product is not sustainable in general, but we believe that there is potential for greater sustainability in the area of materials. Sustainability starts with the materials. That is why, when evaluating this criterion, we look closely at whether the product is made of natural or recycled or recyclable materials and whether it is petroleum- or plastic-free. We also pay attention to whether the materials are grown locally and organically.

Sustainable packaging
Irresponsible manufacturing

Unfortunately, this product does not score highly in any of our sustainable manufacturing criteria. This does not mean that the product is not sustainable in general, but we believe that there is potential for greater sustainability in the area of manufacturing. Manufacturing is an essential step in the life cycle of a product. This includes whether a product is manufactured without animal testing or the use of critical substances such as genetically modified plants or palm oil. We also examine whether it is produced locally and in a CO2-neutral manner. We also check whether social sustainability, such as fair pay, is taken into account during production.

Sustainable packaging
Particularly sustainable circularity

Unfortunately, this product does not score highly in any of our criteria for sustainable recyclability. This does not mean that the product is not sustainable in general, but in our view there is potential for greater sustainability in the area of curly-runnability. A major challenge for sustainability is the integration of products into the biological and technical cycle. It is important here whether a product is recyclable, biodegradable or compostable industrially or at home. We also view it positively if the manufacturer offers a return system for the product and returns it back into the cycle itself. Unfortunately, this product does not score highly in any of our criteria for comprehensive recyclability.
